Directly received from WLDC Councillor:
I live on Mill Lane Middle Rasen and spoke to you briefly about the two issues mentioned on the doorstep during your campaign.
The first of those issues is flooding of surface water every time it rains which is historic.
I raised the matter on ‘fix my street’ in March 2020 Ref: 367935 and was returned No Further Action.
I reported again on 2/3/2021 and this time the site visit result was WORKS PLANNED, Ref: 390808 changed to IN PROGRESS on 17/3/21.
Alas there is NO progress and I don’t even think LCC Highways have any idea without speaking to residents exactly what is required.
On a previous occasion some years ago the offending drain wasn't even on their plans.
The second pressing issue which we were to raise with dear Lewis Strange was the large amount of HGV traffic using Mill Lane daily in both directions.
I raised this issue with Highways on 23/9/2020 and was advised to contact our County Councillor regarding the possibility of a new Traffic Regulation Order (TRO).
These are HGV’s of every category but the vast majority are six axle forty four ton lorries of the maximum size and weight allowed on British roads.
The foundations of the road outside of my property are collapsing and as a result the noise from articulated trailers is unacceptable.
Mill Lane is only 5.4 meters wide and as such has only a minor road classification it is impossible for two lorries to pass without encroaching upon our boundaries.
I assume many must be routed by HGV satellite navigation and travel this way for the A158 for Horncastle and onto Boston Docks.
There is also a large haulage contractor at Woodhall Spa that is a big user.
Also as you will know, half way down the lane is the single track Buslingthorpe bridge which makes meeting a forty four ton articulated truck tricky.
I would add that the bridge has been substantially strengthened in recent years.
I and fellow residents would greatly appreciate your considerations and observations appreciating fully just how busy you are
